Memorial Day 2018, honoring all who served

Did you know that Memorial Day was first called Decoration Day?

It’s true! The official term we use today was actually coined in 1967. Before that, the last Monday in May was named, “Decoration Day”.

Decoration Day got its name from the yearly custom when mothers, sisters and daughters of fallen Civil War soldiers would decorate the graves of their beloved departed ones with flowers and flags. These women were the ones who started the Memorial Day tradition, with the first records dating back to 1882.

For more than 130 years, proud Americans have honored fallen soldiers during the last week of May. But, the holiday has transcendent the act of mourning it began as, and has become one of the most celebrated, proudest holidays that unites the nation from coast to coast.

Today, during the Memorial Day holiday, Americans use the long weekend to remember those they’ve lost to war, but also to take a pause from the chaos of work and obligations.

It’s a time to celebrate life, and a time for short vacations, barbeques, and relaxation with your family.

Harry’s Boots is joining the celebration, and we want to honor the spirit of this holiday by offering limited time Memorial Day Sales, that will last all weekend long.
